I used to be a fan of using whitening strips to help whiten my teeth, but when I started using natural toothpaste my gums and teeth would throb days afterward from the strong ingredients. I hated that feeling and I wanted a better way to effectively whiten my teeth, so I started doing some research and finding what works best. Below are 3 routines I have found to help with whitening teeth naturally.
1. Coconut Oil – I saw a lot of trends going around called “oil pulling” where you basically swish coconut oil around your mouth for 20 minutes or more, then spit it out. At first I thought this was crazy but after a few times trying this method, I grew to really like it. I feel that after I swish the coconut oil around it makes my mouth feel nice and clean. The only downfall is that this can be time consuming because you have to dedicate at least 20 minutes for this routine, but on nights you have some free time try this method out! You can get coconut oil basically anywhere, the one that I used is unrefined and cold pressed because this type has the most benefits packed in.
2. Dr Brite’s Whitening Pen– This pen is great for people who don’t have a ton of time to swish coconut oil around their mouth for 20 minutes or more. I like using this pen because it’s really simple to apply and saves a lot of time. Dr. Brite’s also offers other products that are completely natural for teeth and gum hygiene. I personally love the brite and fresh mouth spray that I take with me everywhere I go to keep my mouth feeling fresh. Click here to check out their products.
3. Charcoal Tooth Powder– This may sound scary to brush charcoal powder on your teeth, but it does actually make a difference. I loved how the charcoal powder made my teeth feel so clean and fresh, but afterward it would take me forever to get the leftover charcoal powder that was stuck in between my teeth out. This is still an effective way to whiten teeth but for me it is just extremely time consuming. I got my charcoal tooth powder at Marshall’s, but you can find them on amazon as well.
Currently I am using the Dr. Brite’s whitening pen and I have found that it is really easy to apply before bed and when I know I won’t be eating for a while. Just remember if you are trying any of this stuff out it takes time, you wont see drastic results after a few days. Sometimes it takes a few weeks to see drastic results, but be sure to use your preferred routine everyday!
